It is perfect for making Voice Carry Over (VCO) calls. Voice Carry Over lets individuals with a hearing loss continue to use their own voice on the telephone. With VCO, you speak directly to the other person and read their typed responses on the display. A Telecommunications Relay Service (toll free) types everything that the other person says so that you can read it on your Uniphone (or other TTY) display. No more straining to hear the response, or asking people to repeat themselves. Because you can read their words, the meaning comes through loud and clear every time. And the conversation maintains a personal, natural feeling, because people are using their own voice.
VCO calls can also be made directly between two Uniphone users (both users must have a Uniphone) for absolute privacy and without the assistance of a relay service - a great reason to have two Uniphones. In a similar way, people who can hear but cannot speak can make Hearing Carry Over (HCO) calls. Just type in your response after listening to the other person's communication.
